peanut free trail mix

I adore trail mix but I hate peanuts. Which means my only options for commercial trail mix are super expensive since most use cheap peanuts as their fillers. In case you haven’t figured it out, I’m just a little bit cheap, which means that I didn’t often get to have trail mix. Then I got smart and started making my own. It’s amazing! Give it a shot! Feel free to add peanuts if you like them, that brings the cost of the trail mix down significantly.

No Peanut Trail Mix

Aldi 1/4 bag chocolate chips .90

Aldi 1/4 bag butterscotch chips .90

Aldi- coconut flakes 1/2 cup .20

Aldi- 1.5 cups roasted cashews 2.79

Aldi- 1 cup roasted almonds 3.99

Wegmans dried pineapple tidbits- entire bag $1.99

Aldi- 1/2 container raisins .90

Recipe creates at 2 lbs 15.6oz bag
Total cost for my trail mix is $11.67 for 47.6 oz  which comes to 25 cents per ounce.
Wegmans trail mix is $12.99 for 42 oz which comes to 31 cents per ounce.
That’s a savings of $2.88 per 48 oz. bag. If your family ate 1 bag of trail mix a week, you would save $150 over the course of a year. Not bad for eating better trail mix!
The quality of the home made mix is considerably better too. The Wegmans mix has a ton of peanuts, ours is just the “good stuff”.
