Last Minute DIY Cheap Costume Ideas

Halloween is almost here! If you haven't even thought about your costume yet… I've got your back!

Here's a quick round-up of all of my favorite DIY Halloween costumes on the interwebz.

The best part? Many of these can be thrown together with things around your house. So don't feel the need to go pop $40 on an Elsa costume… Get a little crafty and make your own. Most of these are super simple and don't require serious crafting abilities (I have none- my husband sews better than I do).

Once Halloween is over this year, try to think ahead. We picked up our kids costumes for about 90% off in the post-Halloween sales last year. Keep in mind, older kids may be really opinionated about what they want to be, but at 1 year and 3 years, my little ones care more about the candy than their costume.

I'd love to be the mom someday that makes amazing costumes for her kids from scratch, but for now I'm thrilled to be the mom that makes sure her kids have costumes and an awesome Halloween. Small wins. 🙂

You can click on the photos or the title of the costume below the photo. All of the links will open in a new window so you don't have to play the “go back” game. You're welcome!

We are from Europe and haven’t celebrated Halloween before (it is not that popular over there). However, now my 5-year-old is having his first Halloween here, in the US, and we are still looking for a custom for him. You definitely have some awesome ideas here 🙂

Happy to help Reelika! That has to be a weird experience coming from overseas. It seems totally normal for me to dress up and demand candy from our neighbors but I can see where someone not growing up with that would be like… “Ummm, why?”

This is a great list! I love how the dad is dressing up as a soldier, too. The carrier & letter is adorable!
