If you’re looking for the best, most comprehensive free guide to start a profitable blog then you’ve found it. The First 10 Steps to a Profitable Blog Checklist is amazing, free, and written for someone who doesn’t understand tech. Win/Win/Win.
Blogging can change your entire life.
I should know. It changed mine.
Before I started a blog, I was working 50-hours a week, paying off over $30,000 of debt, and trying to maintain some semblance of a normal marriage on little sleep amid babies and chaos.
I was exhausted, frustrated, burned out and desperate for a change.
I wanted to be a stay at home mom so badly and felt trapped by my circumstances.
I started my blog in September 2014 with the intention to take it seriously and turn it into a business that replaces my full-time income by the end of one year.
I spent 10-hours a week blogging, every single week, without fail.
Despite being awful with computers, within 10-months, I had replaced my full-time income with a blog working at home as a stay at home mom. Within 18 months, I was making 5x the salary that I ever could have made in my full-time job.
And it wasn’t even hard.
It’s not that blogging is easy, but it certainly wasn’t hard. I loved blogging (and still do!) as much as I loved any of the other stuff I did for fun- it makes me as happy as scrapbooking used to, or even organizing my week in an Erin Condren life planner (with unlimited stickers).
I work 20-hours a week now and have the schedule of my dreams. I got to bring my husband home from his job so that we can build the life of our dreams together.
Fun fact: That life often involves the hot tub at lunchtime.
And I’m incredibly grateful that blogging is a thing. It drives me nuts that I spent so many years in a job that I hate, not realizing that this was an option for me.
I talk about my income (which is awkward and weird to say the least) because I want to make sure that anyone that has the desire and aptitude to blog for a living understands that this is a thing.
And that it can be a calculated career move and not a shot in the dark, like starting a garage band.
My email is filled weekly with bloggers that read something I wrote, started a profitable blog or had it replace their full-time income.
Which is nice and all, but how does that help you?
Because I used The First 10 Steps to a Profitable Blog Checklist to do it.

Your story is so inspiring for me, Rosemarie! I have started a blog to help others with lessons and tips that I have learned the hard way as a parent and wife. I really appreciate your encouragement as you talk to newer bloggers and share your story. Thank you – I will keep working at it!

I just found your link through the Merry Monday Link Party and I’m so excited to follow your blog! Full-time income in 10 months? That’s amazing! I hope to get to a part-time income by Fall when both my children are in school full-time. I figured if I could get to part-time by then, I could work on full-time income, having more hours in a day to work peacefully without interruption. 🙂

Rosemarie,
Thanks so much for your fantastic information which I stumbled upon yesterday. I’m comfortable with writing but don’t have many tech/social media skills.
This past summer my husband and I started RVing full-time. Prior to that I owned an organizing company in Nashville so I decided to start a blog helping other RVers with organization. My goal is that a year from now we can be living off the income from it. It’s only a few weeks old but I’m having such fun with it.
I look forward to learning more from you!
